car Battery

Last Monday I started my car drove 2 miles to library stayed one hour and when i came out the car was unresponsive.Turned ignition key--click/nothing.
RAC came out and jump started it and off I went to local garage.
They checked it and said a cell had died/unresponsive and fitted a new one .
I got home and noticed that the old guarantee was still in force --less than 2 years.I rang them --they said ok ,but I was going up north so I said see you at the w/e.
When I went to-day they showed me a battery saying it was mine (and now it had been found to be ok) and they would remove the new one and put the old one back and give me a refund.
I drove away saying that I was not happy!
What are my rights.?

not sure what the problem is here.
As I understand it, you now have your old battery back and it's now working ok. Is that right?
They also refunded the money you paid them last Monday.
Why are you not happy?0 -
Hello because initially I was told that the old one was caput (a cell had gone) The battery I saw to-day they claimed was mine could have been mine or not.( paranoia--or just knowing garages)
Basically i am getting an old battery cos they cant be bothered to honour, the guarantee.
Bottom line here is they were very happy for me to fork out £100 and drive away---once they realised I had a guarantee they gave my old battery the kiss of life----Sounds like a scam to me0 -
Oh, ok.
Thanks for the more detailed explanation.0 -
I still dont understand, the battery is ok and you got the new one refunded. Whats the problem? Your not entitled to a new one if that what your thinking.0
-
Thanks ---they initially stated that my original battery was dead and needed replacement---£100 later it was replaced.
Now they want their new one back in xchange for my supposedly resurrected old one (after they learnt i had a guarantee)
I do get my money back ----so its best to say thanks and bye-bye.0 -
So it's all good then?
My farts hospitalize small children

How would the mechanic know the battery is under warranty? They probably don't search their system every time a battery needs replacing.
So you wanted the new one + a refund + the working old one?0 -
They initially said that the old one had to be replaced as one of the cells was dead.
Two days later when they learnt it was under guarantee they claimed that the old one was in fact ok--although according to the RAC IT WASNT.
As they were the same garage that had fitted my battery 2 years ago they had the details on their system--and they lied to me when they told me that the guarantee had run out---cos I had the paperwork and clearly it had not.
I will probably just write a letter to their head office---they have made 2 mistakes or they have lied on 2 occassions----matter closed!0 -
Writing a letter will get no further than the bin, theyve done what they have to.0

so there was no charge then:D0
