I thought I had downloaded Adobe Flashplayer, this is what it says in my downloads: flashplayer 112_p4_install_win_ax32_011
Size of download: 3.92 MB

But I just tried to view a bbc programme and just keep getting the message "you need to install Flash to play....download flash now." This has happened a few times.

I just tried downloading it again and after a while got a message that I already have a newer version on my computer.

BTW there is no icon for it on the quick launch task bar, I have to click into downloads to find it.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

P.S. Have just checked and it is not showing in the list of programs, can't understand why and it only mentioned 32 and not 64, could this be the problem? How do I get it to actually install as a program? I didn't have a problem with Adobe Reader.

did you use the adobe website? http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

also when you have downloaded it you have to double click it to install it.

Thanks, yes I did originally download it from either Adobe or Filehippo, which is recommended on here qute a bit.

I am just trying to download it again using your link and hopefully won't get the message that a newer version is already installed because it isn't:mad:

It should show in the list of programs if it is installed shouldn't it?

It has stopped again with the message "newer version already installed"

Perhaps I should delete the one that is currently downloaded because it definitely isn't in the programs.

Use the uninstaller from the Adobe site, reboot and reinstall it.

What browser (including build/version) are you using?

Older versions of some browsers might not support the version of flash you have installed. When you try to install flash via get.adobe/flashplayer you'll be offered the version of flash compatable with that browser build/version - which might not be the latest version of flash required for the application you wish to use, and hence the reason for the "you already have a newer version installed" message.

Thanks, I have tried uninstalling, reboot and reinstalling and did actually get the message installation successful, but unfortunately it wasn't because there was no sign of it anywhere on my computer and when I went to iplayer I got the usual message about needing to install Adobe Flashplayer:mad:

My computer is very new with Windows 7 and use Internet Explorer 9, so cannot understand why I am having these problems. It is so annoying because I want to watch something.

I didn't have any problems downloading Adobe Reader.

Computer came with Windows Media installed, is this something simlar that would work instead of Adobe Flashplayer?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

In the past, like you melbury, I've had hassle updating Adobe flashplayer...and I also couldn't find it among my program files!!!

I soleved my problem...accidently....when, playing/watching a video online, as the video is running, right-click on the video, and up comes info about adobe flash player. Clicking "About Adobe" takes you to their site, and tells you which version you are running, and from there, if yours is out of date, you can find the link to the Player Download Center.

    Hope that helps.

Have sorted it out by downloading Google Chrome and it is incorporated within that, so I can now watch Iplayer:T

Just could not get anywhere with trying to download it on IE9.
