Have at long last bought a Freeview box(Technika cheap thing+500 pts chez Monsieur T). I don't understand how to to connect it. Yes, yes - have read everything, plusieurs fois. Unenlightened still. Have heard of co-axial thingy, but what sort of lead is it? If I read the instructions aright(and I wouldn't rush to William Hill)if I still want ordinary tv as well(I do),I have to have one. I need instructions which say Do this/Do that with pictures at each stage. There's only one of those Scart holes in the tv, but 2 in the dvd/video player(I can't really work this either-have tried recording FOLLOWING THE IMPENETRABLE INSTRUCTIONS TIME WITHOUT NUMBER - NEVER WORKS) Does this matter? So far, I've tried every variation possible of Scart plugs and all the orifices. Nothing goes. Is ordinary tv called 'analog'? If so, I have to 'loop through' the signal?????????by connecting the RF OUT socket(quoi?)of the receiver to the antenna input socket(was ist?) by means of an additional co-axial cable.
Can anyone help? Any 3-years olds still up? It'll only take them 14.2 seconds, probably fewer.

Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
How many scart sockets does the freeview box have? If it only has 1 then you cannot connect to video and TV - you can only watch.
Connect scart on TV to scart on freeview box then freeview will show on AV channel on TV. As your TV only has one scart you will not be able to connect DVD/Video at same time as it will run in on same channel.
You then need to connect Freeview to aerial to pick up signal - Co-axial is just the cable that runs from TV to your ariel socket (as pictured in post above)! - connect aerial to freeview then freeview to TV (this is why you need a second cable.
You should then get freeview on the AV channel of TV but you will need to tune in - which will probably mean more instructions!!!
Good Luck0 -
Thankyou both - yes, I'm sure there are odds and sods of that sort of cable somewhere. TV is ancient. Do more modern ones have two of those Scart holes? In which case I'd need two of those leads?
I'm assuming few people dance up and down to swap the lead about if they want to see things on both systems.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

You will need 2 scart sockets on TV if you want freeview box and dvd/vid connected to TV at same time - You will have to keep switching cables with only one socket on TV but with freeview connected it will work. You need 2 scart sockets on freeview box if you want to video from it as well as watch it - 1 connected to TV and 1 connected to video and yes you will then need 2 scart leads for this... You can buy scart multiplier boxes (but, in my experience, they don't work very well).0
