Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has made a PPI claim with countrywide assured?
We had mortgage protection/life cover with them.
have sent in a claim form, because the protection was usless, as I found out.
They told me they 'dont do PPI'
anyone had any PPI with them????

Is this before 2005? I seem to recall from past posts that they only became regulated in 2005 so anything before that is rejected.
what was their response as they dont do PPI and life assurance. However, they do advise on it. What was your complaint (you saying you dont need it) would not be enough as you would need to say why.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). According to their website they had 42 complaints about "general insurance and pure protection" in the first half of 2011. The closed 32% and upheld 13% of them (I think that is rounded up - 4 is equivalent to 12½% and 5 is just over 15½%).
The point is that if they did not do such contracts then they would not need to uphold complaints.
That does not, though, mean any cover was missold and it does not mean they do PPI.0 -
Hi gman 41
Just wondered how you got on after your initial letter. We also had Income Protection Insurance that was sold to us with our endowment. My husband lost his job and we were told that they wouldnt pay anything for 3 months - not helpful at all and thankfully he got a new job within two months, anyway a few years later we remortgaged and the financial adviser told us it wasnt worth the paper it was written on, so we cancelled it, that was before all the PPI reclaim stuff came about I just wondered if you had got any further with your claim?0 -
Hi, i have the same question as gman41, when my husband and i bought our first house we arranged our motgage through and independent advisor based within the estate agents, i rember feeling very bewildered and confused, we took out all the polices that were recommended to us and that were advised we needed, a few years ago i went through all our policies to see if we could get them cheaper anywhere else, i found that the policies Countrywide sold us all covered the same things so didn't need them all! one of the policies is called 'Mortgage Protection Plan' which was paid monthly, looking at he policy its broken into 3 sections, life and critical illness cover (individual) and payment protection, is this a PPI????
any advise would be appreciated0 -

Seeing as you mentioned they were independent, this would indicate that this was before 2005. They became tied agents after that. (assuming you are talking about countrywide the estate agents - something that may be mixed up with earlier comments on this thread)i found that the policies Countrywide sold us all covered the same things so didn't need them all!
That would be strange as there is not much they can have which overlaps with each other. Can you explain what you think overlaps?one of the policies is called 'Mortgage Protection Plan' which was paid monthly, looking at he policy its broken into 3 sections, life and critical illness cover (individual) and payment protection, is this a PPI????
None of those overlap. Only the payment protection is a form of PPI. All three are very normal to see recommended with mortgages and most take out varying degrees of insurance depending on their needs and risks.any advise would be appreciated
Obviously, the date is going to be an issue. Plus, you havent indicated any reason for complaint. You have an opinion where it could be but nothing you have said so far suggests any wrongdoing. Seems like either no one has been successful against Countrywide or people have just given up hope.
I'm thinking of having a go, I was sold a Mortgage Protection Plan and Personal Protection by Countrywide. Both contain income protection which seems a bit pointless. I was looking back at my mortgage conditions and I was only required to have Buildings Insurance.
I was a first time buyer then (May 2011) and led to believe this was all required. How wrong was I. I'm just getting my facts right first before I go ahead, but I will report how I get on here.
If anyone in a similar position has anything to share, do post here.
Thanks.Student loan: Cleared.0 -

Insurance is pointless unless you have to claim on it.I was a first time buyer then (May 2011) and led to believe this was all required.
What evidence do you have to support that allegation?
MPPI gets far fewer complaints then any other type of PPI. Most MPPI complaints are rejected and the FOS only upheld a minority. The stats for the FOS show that just 0.2% of PPI complaints involved advisers. The FSCS stats show they only upheld 5% of complaints against mortgage advisers made via them.
So, unless you have something stronger than an unprovable allegation you wont get far.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Certain insurances are also pointless when you don't need them to meet the conditions of the mortgage and when you can get them elsewhere.
That was never clear. Instead I was introduced to all their products which I was led to believe I had to buy into, there was never a suggestion we weren't obliged to take their services for insurance. I thought I was to talking a mortgage advisor, instead I'm talking to someone who just wants to sell me stuff I don't really need. Had the cheek to sell me a Will, but I declined - I don't want anyone to benefit from my property if the worst happens.
These advisors were smart, they give you the guilt story and convince you to sign up. They'll put a scenario in front you to realise why you need these products but fail to tell you that they are not required. Even took out home insurance with them, which was expensive, changed provider 12months later, saving 50%.
Ive gone through the paperwork, I still think there is a case.Student loan: Cleared.0 -

Are you sure you are not getting Countrywide Asurred (who dont do PPI) muddled up with Countrywide Mortgages or estate agents or whoever??? Not sure if you were aware you had hijacked someone elses post about Countrywide Assured.
Also in May 2011, there is no way in hell any company would have mis-sold you PPI or lead to believe you had to take it. Most firms in the country that sold PPI has been inundated with PPI complaints for the past 2-3 years and single premium PPI was long gone in 2011. Also insurances are have been clearly marked as "optional" for a while now. Are you sure you got that date right?0 -
Hi
I wonder if anyone can help with this. I took out a Countrywide Self Cert mortgage around 2000. This was fixed at an extortionate rate for 5 years and im not sure if this may have had PPI attached? I have used Claims Guys to run a check but this isn't one of the companies they have listed so was unable to help, has anyone else had any joy with claiming PPI from Countrywide?0
