Combi boiler?

Hi all, new to site so please feel free to re-direct me if i am posting this in wrong place? Currently looking at switching to new combi boiler as back boiler has decided to join the "not gonna work no more in this country gang". I have been advised to get a ideal 30kw or ferroli boiler by friends, i live alone in 3 bed semi with 1 bathroom. After a little research on www, i have read countless threads basically telling me not to touch either make with a barge pole, B&Q are selling a heatline monza 28kw for £550, cant find many reviews, but those i have sound quite good, they say the inners of said boiler are Vaillant which supposedly have quite a good reputation. I have seen posts on here saying that some people with larger houses than i run smaller combi`s, like 24kw`s, please tell me if if this is possible as i have noticed the jump in price after 24kw does increase. I would sooner pay more for a good 24kw, than maybe purchace an `average` 28kw or 30kw? Any advice on this would be much appreciated. Also is it a requirement to have trv`s fitted to all rads with a new combi & why? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

How much hot water do you want per minute? 24kW will give you enough for a good shower but will take ages to fill the bath. The 30kW will give you enough for 2 reasonable flow showers at the same time and will be a bit quicker filling the bath. It's all to do with hot water. You don't need anywhere that much for heating the house. A 12kW conventional boiler will be fine for a moderate 3 bedroomed house and especially for you living by yourself when you can close off radiators in unused rooms very easily.

You have the option of replacing your back boiler with a new high efficiency back boiler for much less cost than replacing with a combi.

As above plus my sister has a 24Kw combo in a fair size 3 bed semi with no problems, even filling the bath.
B & Q sell Biasi, which 1 have, the 32 Kw one, 7 years with not problems.

Before you even consider a combi you need to get a local independent GSR RGI in to do a proper survey. At present you have no idea if your water pressure and flow rate, and your gas pipework, are even suitable for a combi.
