PPI on credit card - HELP please

HI, I have complained to the bank about PPI being on my credit card and they have written to me making an offer, I rang them and they said they only held info for 7 years I have statements going back to 1995 so they said to send them proof so I sent a sample from various years to them asking them to reconsider offer, they have written to me now saying they have reinvestigated and have uncovered something, they've not told me what, which would have made them overrule the original decission, they have however said as a good will gesture they will honour the original decision which I assumes means they will pay me what they offered in the first letter, but they say they will not recalculate further redress??? I feel a bit scared to challenge them incase they withdraw the offer all together, can anyone offer any advice please ... thanks :undecided

Never heard of this, could be a scare tactic so you wont pursue this, they could have used this reason to deny your claim altogether,if i were you, i would give FOS a ring and ask them their opinion, this seems to be very out of order.
    Which bank?.
  • Hi... thanks for the response... it is the Yorkshire / Clydesdale bank, I was really suprised to get this letter as they have been ok up to now, I will ring the FOS and see what they say, got to be honest if it is a scare tactic it has worked because I have started to panic but I know I did not ask for PPI at any stage,. I dont understand how they can change there mind now but then say as a good will gesture they will honour the first offer, the letter is very sketchy as well it implys they have uncovered something but does not tell me what! Thanks again for the response :)
