Yep we received this letter and we have two children.

I phoned them and they said they will take me off 'the withdrawal flag' and I have to phone them after 6th April.

I would have had my tax credits stopped - this would have been a mistake - someone in the news needs to know about this. I'll send some tweets.

With 3 children the income limit is about £38,800 so you were told rubbish. You'll still be entitled from April.

When I telephoned the tax office today the lady told me the income limit was £26000 for 1 child or £32200 for 2 or more children.

Definitely wrong. HMRC do seem to be losing the plot completely. The websites are very unhelpful for those with more than 2 children but there is no change in the rules concerning how many child elements you get, so with 3 kids you can definitely get tax credits on the income below £38800.
  • Hmmmmmmm now Im really confused.

We had a letter saying ours will stop as jointly we earn over 26,000 which I agree with.................but we have two teens both still in full time education and we dont earn much more than 30,000 Im sure. Will have to get P60's out to check.

    I know its only £10/11 per week but thats £40 a month/520 a year :(
    Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £60
  • yes i had letter. i have 2 children. so cap should be £32200 according to HMRC website. I def earn less that £30000 so i should still get it. i called them and they took off 'withdrawl flag'. will have to wait and see what happens. but if i hadnt called them i would have lost out on £40 a month which i am not happy about.

I haven't had this letter and expect not to get it as OH was made redundant for the 2nd time in 2 years just before crimbo and still looking for work. However his income was around the 26k figure and we have 4 kids so I suppose we could have had the letter and it be totally wrong.
Either way it definately needs bringing to the medias attention, they love a bit of "gov dept coks up again!".

Just typical of tax credits and these are the people who will administer the new universal credit????
I mena I know the job centre and the staff over there will presumably be used as well, but how in the hell will it all be organised and the computer system that will need to combine a number of different and incompatable systems, the logistics are huge so I suspect the implementation date may end up several years away.

  • This country is going to the dogs. I'd like to know how they expect us to live if they're going to cut everything and especially as their "trained" staff can't even provide the correct information.

Did you earn less than £30,000 last year as well? HMRC are sending the letters based on latest income info, could it be you haven't updated if your income has fallen.

Might be. Our income has gone down this year which is is fair enough, prob had over that last year. but the fact is they sent me a letter with wrong cap. I have 2 children. If i had not looked it up on HMRC site i would have lost out. HMRC got the letter wrong if you ask me. this should be sent to media so others dont lose out.
