I would imagine that one of the main reasons for this is that eBay China users can list on eBay UK free of charge at present (an incentive to try and capture the growing Chinese online market). This is the reason there are so many listings on the UK site where the items are bein shipped from China/Hong Kong.
Consequently the same listings can offer shipping to the US on the same listings placed (free of charge) on eBay UK so the US sellers are unhappy about the flood of competition from China. There has been some publicity about this and eBay promised to bring in protectionism for the US market to stop their US sellers moving to other sites.
Hence, eBay UK sellers suffer once again because of eBay UK allowing Chinese sellers to list free of charge. Not only are we in direct competition on eBay uk with Chinese sellers listing free of charge, and offering goods which are obviously cheaper from China, but we loose out on the US market as they try to stop the US site being flooded with Chinese listings placed via eBay UK!
So its lose, lose for us poor UK sellers once again.0 -

If that's the situation then perhaps the UK Sellers should be fighting this which is unfair rather than trying to complain about no longer being able to list on the US site for free?Doubt eBay will listen, but it seems like we would have more of a case.

eBay listen?? Not in the UK they wont. They have a monopoly here which is why we have the worst eBay support (try reporting a policy breach or someone evading fees and you will see what I mean -hopeless) and why our site is flooded with fakes, scammers and thousands of Chinese sellers (who can list for free on eBay.co.uk but not eBay.com).
In the US they have serious competition hence they listen more to their customers and take action to protect their share of the market.
You only have to look at the community boards on eBay to see what UK business sellers think.0 -

Might it be a bit of a spoof to see how many sellers start to list on both, thereby incurring double fees?
I reckon their searches will work in the same way as results from eBay shops do at present. e.g. if you search for something on eBay that does not return many hits then results from eBay shops will appear in the results as well. Otherwise only listings on the main (non shop) site are returned. On eBay.com UK listings will probably show up if there are few results for a search, otherwise just US results will be returned.0 -

Actually I dont know myself. Im only going from the postings on the community boards. Also eBay themselves frequently say the US is a 'different' market which is taken as meaning more sensitive....i.e. Americans dont put up with bad treatment.0 -
I've sold 2 items to U.S. buyers tonight - there isn't an introduction date, as far as I can see, on their announcement, so I assumed the changes had already taken place................but apparently not.
Also sold an item to a Hong Kong buyer - one in the eye for the Chinese sellers! :rotfl:I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0 -

Don't forget that the US buyers will still be able to see your items if they select the 'worldwide' location, just as we can get to see auction listings from elsewhere.0
