Credit Checks

This is not really a credit card Question...but...

I have been trying to get a 0% for some months now...have been declined on 5 attempts.

I have my Equifax and experian credit reports
Now as I am repairing my credit report, Equifax tells me no more 'searches' for a few months or this would seem you are in financial need....some thing that would worry a creditor:eek::eek::eek::eek:

So last night I bought a Health Lotto online...
woke up to a email from Equifax:j that a 'new search' has appeared on my credit file:(:(

and its the Health lottery:mad::mad::mad::mad:

why are they doing this???? I am NOT asking for credit!!!

    It's an 'unrecorded search' (if you check your report it'll say "ID Enquiry" or something similar), meaning it's not seen by lenders when searching your file. Only yourself and the CRA can see it.

    You are quite correct, you never applied for credit with them and the search wasn't a "credit search".

    They have carried out an ID search on you for the prevention of money laundering as required to do so by law.

    The search will not have any affect in your credit score that lenders see, and can only be seen by you and the CRA.

    With regards your actual reason for the questions, I would wait 6 months before applying for any further credit or you may get on to the rejection track!
