Pay Day Loans while on Benefits?

Have a short, sharp word with yourself. You didn't need £30 to cover you for the next few hours, but you've borrowed it. Be sensible and spend the bare minimum of what you've borrowed - all you need is some gas and a bag of spuds. That will leave you with the majority unspent to use for paying back the loan which will mean you won't be too short of money next week..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
It always amazes me how on this site people are so nasty to individuals.
Most of us would be in the same situation if we were taken ill or lost our main source of income.
PNEFC, good luck with your finances, only advice I have is to look at a piece of software called YNAB (it costs £40 but has a 34 day trial) and see where your money is actually going each month. Its a really good system as done wonders for my bottom line each month.
Oh, and try your best to give up the fags, I know how hard it is having lived with a smoker for 12 years (I am and have always been a non-smoker)0 -

Bit Pricey I agree, MS Money was more expensive than that when it came out many moons ago and in my opinion its a good piece of software.
Most people that have trouble making ends meet each month tend to have problems understanding where their money is going to.0 -

Why on earth would anyone pay £40 for some software to work out where your money is going when a good old fashioned spread sheet with income and outgoings will do the job.......and for free.
I can't get on with spreadsheets myself so I use an old diary and keep a track of wages in and bills / money out...I am NEVER more then £10 out per month and as I have no overdraft it doesn't matter as £10 short is only a bit of luxury anyway
as I pay a months rent in advance and electric etc and have a freezer full of food and a veg box once a week.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

with all due respect, if it was that easy Wonga\etc would not exist.
Not saying that the original poster has to go out and buy some software to help them to budget, just saying it works for me and a few other people that I know.0 -
Also my original post was really about the nastiness that people are extending to individuals that are down on their luck.0

If they are so down on their luck then they don't need to pay £40 for something they could do for free....So how are you helping ?
I don't believe that their only option was a loan as we are talking about one day and I am sure their neighbours would have been able to lend them a can of beans and some bread or something..As for heating, thousands do without it all together so one day would really not make that much difference (seeing as last night was the coldest and it is set to get warmer)There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

I was suggesting a trial first but never mind.
I am sure if the original poster could ask a neighbour for a can of beans they would.
As to heating, Shelter, Food and heating are pre-reqs in any budget.
Never mind.0 -
I actually felt for Carl - if it makes me a weak person - so be it, cause threads like this one earlier in the day made me wanna cry
Carl - Glad you got something sorted
You know this but pay the demon back in full and don't let it become a habit (though at one point I didn't take my own advice...)
Hope you enjoy your cigarette - would you have one for me I've never touched one but today has been explosive enough...
My naughty downfall is cake when I'm meant to be slimming, but it might have to be an oh stuff it occasion!
