Pay Day Loans while on Benefits?

Morning all, my first post here :hello:
I'm looking for a little help and advice please? :)

I'm after a small loan until payday on Monday. I've never had any loans or credit for over 6 years and am currently on Income Support. The only debt I have is my water rates, which are being deducted from my benefits.

I've been reading through these forums and realise it can be a dangerous route to take. However, I'm only looking for £30 until Monday. Would it be advisable to try one of these PDL companies?

Another question. I just tried registering with Wonga but they required a home landline number and I only have a mobile. I have an online Debit Account with Santander. Are there any other companies that don't require a landline number for registration?

Many thanks for reading and any advice or tips.

Carl

Great. That's cheered us all up.
  • Do you have a cheque book?

If so head to your local moneyshop and cash in a cheque for £50.

Probably cost you about £17 to do so, leaving with you £33.

    Problem resolved.

Good luck. PS - I don't recommend using this system, but you did ask.

For the sake of £30, the associated costs and it will leave you with less on Monday I'd try and find another source of getting the £.

If you can't manage without the £30, can you ask family or friends so you only have the actual amount to pay back on Monday??

Alternatively can you sell something at a Cash Converters or CEX type shop?

Pawn Brokers might work out cheaper if you have jewellery or an item of value.

They've helped me in the past, and would offer if they knew I was in need, but I'm always too ashamed to ask. :embarasse

Yes I know. I'm almost there, but I'm desperate here. I've been without food, heat and fags  for 3 days now! Plus my electric is about cut off soon LOL.

I'm also unable to travel to any pawn shops etc. I don't actually mind paying the £7 for a £30 loan until Monday. I am just looking for a quick solution.

I'll see if I can find another company which doesn't require a landline for registration.

Thanks again for your help and listening. :)
  • IF you do go ahead with a PayDay loan, checkout TopCashBack first you may be able to ease the pain with some cashback if you get accepted.

Also have you tried a Crisis Loan?
  • If you were paid £30 short on Monday could you manage? I understand your desperation but surely by borrowing now aren't you just adding to your misery?

Thanks, I wasn't aware of TopCashBack. I'll have a browse. I didn't think about a crisis loan, although I'm only trying to get through until Monday.

Yes I understand what you mean, but I can budget better next week. I'm not going through this misery again. I'm freezing my proverbials off here and I'll eat less extravagant :)

    Thanks again all :T

I didn't even realise you could get a crisis loan for fags
  • Hi Carl

Could you see if there are any soup kitchens or anything like that in your area?

Failing that if it were me, I'd be tempted to go back to bed and keep warm that way

It will help stay out of harm's way, happy days will come again
