"Bridesboy"? :rotfl:
On a more serious note, men take the title of Nurse and Midwife, so I'd probably stick with the original. "Midwife" is actually a German word, The "Mid" bit translates as "with" and the "wife" bit is the German for "woman". So Midwife means "Withwoman" so it's describing the occupation, not the person.

I'd second bridesman, and to add to that, rename the best man as groomsman.A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove you don't need it.0

My male best friend wouldn't want to be part of the actual wedding party as he hates attention but I am giving him the title 'man of honour' because I already know what a massive help he will be!

I've heard of both Bridesman and Man of Honour being used as titles for male attendants for the bride.

I'd go with bridesman. The midwife analogy relates to who the job is with i.e. with the woman, so the job is to be with the woman giving birth. In that case the word describes the job
But bridesmaid comes from bride's maid, so the word describes the person...the person is the maid, and as maid is a term for a female it wouldn't be right to call him that. He will be the bride's man0 -
I thought lads behind a bride were pageboys.... so could be Head Pageboy, or just Pageboy.0

the reason he is head bridesmaid is my o/h was head bridesmaid for his wedding, so its been an ongoing thing since that he would be same for her. she seems to think bridesmaid still but i will push for brides man!£18 for my old mobile.
