If you're under 18 and go overdrawn, can the bank still legaly charge you?

I'm sure they could and would charge because you've entered an unauthorised overdraft, regardless of how old a customer is. I'm not sure whether such a situation could ever arise, though?
Having said that, I got a Maestro card on my HSBC account when I was 17 and going overdrawn never occurred to me!0 -
From:- http://www.bba.org.uk/bba/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=261&a=352Can you tell me about some of the services banks offer and whether there are any age limits?

Overdraft
This facility will not be available until you are 18 or older.
I seem to recall bank charges tending not to apply to under 18s as they cannot be held legally responsible in terms of a contract.
Edit: For example, Halifax.0 -
Yes, a friends son, who had a Switch card at 17, accidently went over into an unauthrised overdraft by 17p, he got a £30 charge, but I think he did get it back.
Best not to get into that situation in the first place though, because bank charges are horrendous!!
They will charge you without a second thought, regardless of your age!£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450 -

I am sure that if an under 18 actually got an overdraft that he/she parents would have to have acted as guarantors of the account, which ever way you look at it, it would harm that persons credit report, and at such an early stage in life it would not be advicable to do.
