I think Powergen as come up trumps.

A few days ago I contributed to a thread about Powegen, stating that they had put me on capped Gas at 14p a day at the very time when it was coming down. When I complained they put me on Winter saver.

Reading this forum I thought I had been hard done by, so I sent them an e-mail writing what I thought of them, and threatening to move.

Well, about three hours ago I had a phone call, asking if I would like to go onto the latest price plan, I asked what the details are, she explained that where I live I would have a reduction of 23%, so thinking it over for a few seconds said OK. I then went on to tell her that I was £83 in credit and what I should pay per month from now on as it had been reduced.

She said £54. So that is a good saving from £70.

I too am with Powergen as an online customer, clubcard points to and have capped until 2010

Just rang them - their prices will be coming down in the next week or so but I asked if I could save anymore money. Not bothered about being capped, if there is a worry, they'll bring something else out.

She has just given me 24.2% :j discount on the energy online extra saver deal (post BG announcement) this is the largest discount they do - its for the Manweb area. (discounts vary for different areas - generally around 19%) I suggest other online customers ring up and ask for a quote - this little lot will amount to me saving over £200 and I haven't switched.:money: :money:

Sounds good reductions...tho part of the reason I moved away from them was the less than clear invoices.especially when prices changed mid-way, then maybe an unclear discount with no covering dates.
A deliberate attempt to confuse the customer, now an ex-customer.

Having been with this bunch for nearly 20 years and only moved last Oct to Ebico.
I have heard all their excuses,lies,mis-billing,wrong readings, incorrect DD`s,wrong discounts paid and anything else you care to mention.

I wouldn`t believe a word they say, they are not to be trusted.
  • Been with them 2 years - no problems just yet, (touch wood)but thanks for warning will keep eyes peeled when docs come through.

    Thanks guys

I rang yesterday and asked about cheaper tarrifs, the guy said as im fixed until 08 its the cheapest one they do, any truth in that
  • Thanks OP
One quick phone call today took me off the EnergyOnline Winter Saver at 16% discount, and onto the EnergyOnline Extra Saver at 23.1% discount.
No tie ins, same unit costs, can change again next week if something better appears on the horizon.

YOU MUST PHONE though, remember they are not going to change you if you dont ask !!

One phone call saved me £80

deanos, according to energyhelpline capped till 2008 is cheaper by far.

Using average consumption in the Swalec region, paying by dd you would be £88 (12%) worse off switching to the energyonline extra saver.

If you put in your figures for your area you should get a similar result.
