I can get an HP A1E13EA laptop for about £275. Is this a good buy? I use my laptop for email, forums, a little social media and googling stuff. I don't play games or store photos etc as I use a desktop for that.

My current laptop is 6+ years old and only has 500mb ram and is unbelievably slow.

Details are:

ProcessorIntel® Core™ i3 Dual Core (370M, 3MB Cache, 2.4 GHz)Screen15.6" (HP Anti-Glare, LED Backlit, 1366 x 768 HD 16:9 Screen)Operating SystemWindows 7 Professional Edition 64-bitRAM2GB (DDR3 1333MHz)Hard Drive320GBOptical DriveDVD Rewriter (Records DVDs 8x & CDs 24x & Dual Layer Super Multi)GraphicsIntegrated (Intel® HD Graphics with up to 1274MB Shared Memory)Wireless LANWireless (802.11b/g/n Wireless) Network Card10/100Mbps Fast EthernetCard Reader2-in-1 card reader ( SD, MMC )USB Ports3x USB 2.0 portsBluetoothBluetooth 3.0SpeakersIntegrated Sound SystemVGA Port1 External VGA PortKensington LockKensington lock slot Charge Time2.5 HoursHDMI1x HDMI Port

I would be grateful for any comments, or suggestions about any other laptops at around the same price.

Fine for what you want to do.

    Pro's: I3 1st gen CPU, Win 7/64 Pro

Cons: Only 2gb RAM enought at present, but it be when rather than if you need to increase within the life of the lappie - relatively cheap at the mo though.

The specs are good for the price.

HP use different hd makers. Make sure it's not a Fujitsu hd as they're absolute crap.

Oh dear...showing your ignorance again. Don't you get tired of writing this rubbish?

Wasn't it just a sort while ago that robmar0se let you know that Fujitsu use Toshiba HDD?

    Fujitsu HDD are obselete.
  • Be careful with that Laptop! That price is too cheap. Is it a refurbished Laptop or does that price include vat?

No it is a new laptop from HP Business with a combination of cashback and discount and does include VAT. There is a similar offer at saveonlaptops but with less discount that costs £330.

They're good value for the money, though I'd be suprised if you couldn't find a win 7 home machine a little cheaper. As another poster mentioned, an extra 2gb of ram for a tenner or so will improve it immensley (especially as the VGA will nab a bit of the onboard 2gb)

The 630's do seem to have horrible, horrible touchpads though.

Watch very carefully the t&c on the cashback (especially dates) and make sure you adhere exactly to it.

If that's correct the change must be fairly recent. My HP Compaq's Fujitsu hd went awol last week after less than 2 years.

From 2009 if I remember correctly.
