Air Filter Change Interval

They're cheap enough, just change it every 12 months.....
If it's hard to get to, the chances are it's never been changed by a garage at service intervals. SOME mechanics can be lazy f**kers sometimes.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I change the plugs, air filter and oil every 12 months (about 15k miles). It's the best service that you can give a car. You need to buy the stuff from a motor factors though. I bought 4 bosch spark plugs today, £1.50 each inc VAT. The whole lot, of 5 litres of (decent oil), plugs, oil filter and air filter came to £39 inc VAT.0

just for the record a dirty air filter would cause the engine to use MORE fuel as it compensated for lake of oxygen so saying the ecu would make adjustments is like saying i drive faster when im running out of fuel so i can get to the petrol station quicker so i dont run out0

Learn to change your plugs and filters yourself and save a small fortune.
If you can find enough people in your area who want to do the same, then you could club together and pay a mechanic to teach you.
Even my B-in-L can do an oil change on his Diesel Focus and he is not very mechanically minded.Never Knowingly Understood.

I know how to do it, but to be honest I can't be bothered. To do a proper service really needs a ramp, time to do it and somewhere to dispose of the old oil.
By the time you've changed the sparks, filters, oil, taken the wheels off and checked the brakes etc etc etc and then cleaned out all the oil from your fingernails, you've spent three hours, saved £50 and skimmed all your knuckles. My time is worth more than that, and I like to be able to sit on my backside at the weekends
So I get someone else to do it, who knows what he's doing....0 -

So a lack of oxygen, and the engine compensates by injecting even more fuel, to run even richer?
Have you heard of lambda sensors?
As to driving faster, that depends on who we think knows more about engines, you or an ecu.
I think I'm with the ecu at the moment.0 -

I do it because I enjoy it, and to prove to myself I'm not getting old as well nowadays.
(you missed the hour in the bath, soaking the back away as well)0
