Hi Everyone,
I am funding myself through the open uni BA hons Social work degree, I get the the full course fee's grant and a small grant towards the cost of books and things .
I am not taking the work-based route as have no sponsorship as of yet ,I have one child at home and I claim income support .
Would I be able to claim the NHS social work bursary.
Is there any other grants available to me for help with living costs, as I'm struggling, and my friends who study at brick uni's and put in the same amount of study are rolling in the cash.
Any advice welcomed.:)

From 2012 part-time students are eligible for maintenance loans (search on Direct.gov).
But I'm not sure how this will effect you seeing as you have already started your studying.0 -

Are you sure the OU does a non work based route - they never used to.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I am aware that I need to be working in a social care setting to complete the full SW degree ,at the min I am working through the modules that I can complete 4 out of the 6 without this. I have been trying to get a placement for over a year , without any luck, there are no jobs out that but I shall keep trying0
