vodafone water damage

Got a samsung android phone and the data access wasnt working. Sent it off for repair and they are saying its water damaged and they want 65 quid to fix the port before dealing with the data issue. Just been to war with customer service as the phone has been in a case since I bought it and not been near water. Im also aware that steam from taps can effect them so its not even been in the bathroom. to my astonishment the vodafone guy just said it can happen if you keep it in your pocket too long as this can become humid!! Surely this is nonsense and if it is the case a disclaimer should be on the instructions saying 'do not keep in pocket' He then said women have this problem a lot as the same can happen in handbags. Are these phones fit for purpose? Ives asked them to send the phone back as it is so I can get it independently checked as a matter of principle. Ive also given them 1 hour for a manager to call and own this problem or I will be cancelling my contract and changing providers and will see them in court. Anyone else had these issues and if so any success? ps its not the money its the principle, ive been with them since 1997.

Not nonsense. happened to many iPhone users and the sweat/moisture from the pocket has led to people having their warranties made void. I believe BBC;s Watchdog made an investigation and Apple woke up and did the repairs under pressure.

    Just continue to press them.

This would be better in the 'mobile phone' forum.
