empire biscuits

Just had a right laugh making empire biscuits with my two toddlers. Pkt of digestives, strawberry jam, icing and sugar and sprinkles. I forgot what a blinking mess it made but was worth it to see how much fun the kids had doing it. My wee one had a jam, sprinkle and icing beard.

Ooh, I forgot how much I like empire biscuits! There's a lovely recipe in the first Hairy Bikers Mums Know Best book.
  • I've never heard of them. And I don't have any digestive biscuits in the cupboard either. Damn.

Not heard of them made with digestives, but each to their own I suppose. The ones we have are more a short-cake type biscuit, with jam, icing and some sort of jelly sweetie on top.

Sounds like a lovely way of spending an afternoon with the kids...albeit a sugar and calorie-laden one! Were the kids a little hyper afterwards?

  • We made them for the famly to watch a movie tonight, they probably will end up hyper but a wee treat now and again wont hurt and they were both so proud that they had made them.(and their eyes are bigger than their bellies, probably take a bite and end up on the floor) It was so much fun but had to give baths alround as they were covered in the ingredients. It brought back wonderfull memories about my wee granny who used to make time to do these types of cooking projects with us as kids. It just made me smile and hope they remember doing stuff like that with me. Aw a bit of nostalga is good for the soul.

    Far too much fat .

You're much better off eating a single stick of Twix.
