Hi guys,
I park in Portsmouth frequently to see my girlfriend who goes to Uni there. When i park, i use a service called RingGo which you may have heard of, basically it allows you to pay over the phone for your parking.
Anyway, last year, despite having paid for my parking using the RingGo service i got 2 PCN's within a month and i disputed them both and they both got cleared. The excuse? "Sometimes the RingGo service doesnt sync properly with our system"...hmmmm....
Anyway, the same thing has happened AGAIN this morning and im getting sick to death of it. Its a waste of my time writing email after email and receiving letters etc.
Is there any sort of compensation i can claim from this? I want to try and get something out of them for wasting my time! :rotfl:
Thanks alot
Chris Rice

And this from using a service that charges you extra for the alleged convenience of using the phone (which in itslef is a complete con, as it costs a lot more to collect and manage the cash in the machines). Although the amounts are small, you could make it really inconvenient for them in demanding a refund of the "extra fee" you get charged, plus the cost of a couple of stamps. A pound or so, which will cost them many, many more to process

What do you think i should claim compensation FOR though? Inconvenience?0

As this is a Uni, are we not dealing with a private operator here?
If so, just ignore the scam.
Even if this is a legit council scheme, I don't think you can claim compensation anyway - Only reasonable costs and expenses. Up to (IIRC?) £250. So you need to take it as far as a hearing and be able to clearly detail all costs involved.0 -
No its not private, its a road outside the university and run by Portsmouth City Council....0

If you want to get back at them go through the local press, they love this sort of thing.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

So you go to an adjudication and then claim that the council is acting vexatiously. At this point the adjudicator can actually consider compensation or an order against the council which has the same legal strength as a court order. Its done very rarely though.0
