How can spending £2 on 1 thing I will use rather than £5 on 3 things where 1 goes to waste, be wasting money??
Take out the rude way you said to 'donate' the free pack of whatever on BOGOF, I am spending money just on what I need and will not waste.

You are lucky to have enough money to get the inflated special offers, don't preach when you know nothing about what others do.

I don't ever buy single over-inflated single items when BOGOF offers are on - it would be madness.
If you want to take only the one item on a BOGOF offer, that's obviously your personal choice. I would prefer to donate it and I do, to MIL, neighbour, son etc. - to take just one on a BOGOF is madness - give to someone who needs it, don't leave it for the store to sell.

Certainly not trying to "preach" at all, rather to be helpful. You could help someone out and they could do the same in return, possibly. I would rather give an item away to a beggar in the street, give it to someone homeless etc, than to leave it!

The difference between one for £2 and 3 for £5 and taking one is understandable, but not taking one on a BOGOF.

No need to reply, we are obviously on different wavelengths.

    Good luck though.

Interesting discussion from BBC "YOU AND YOURS" (freeze on day of purchase, chapter 1, 10.02.12)

And what about the other part of the label?

A lot of food has Freeze on day of purchase and use within a month

I've had meat in the freezer since last summer. Perfectly good. How many people throw away frozen food that's got nothing wrong with it?

I treat the freezer as a suspended mechanism so I have often frozen fresh meat and fresh bread etc. later on in the week if I feel I am not going to use it up before it might be spoiled.

Frozen food I don't normally worry about dates.

I don't normally defrost too much that I would ever get in the position to have to re-freeze.

I sort of understand what you're saying, but no-one is forced to buy more than one of anything they buy.
If you haven't got freezer room, just buy one of the item you want.
e.g Sometimes on the BOGOF satsuma packs, I only have 1 pack because I don't want to waste food. I've not lost out as such on price, - I have made that choice becaude I don't want to waste food.

Give the second one to the homeless person selling papers outside. Or if he's absent, shout :"Anybody wants this; free of charge!"
At least it doesn't boost the supermarket's profits.

Why do you not take the "free" one and donate it??
Someone else could maybe do the same in return??

If something is BOGOF, BOG2F etc, I take the lot. They are generally over-priced anyway if buying a single pack when this offer is on, that in itself is a waste - a waste of money.

Totally agree. That behaviour beats common sense.:wall:

I've always ignored the "freeze on day of purchase" advice. It's daft to think that keeping something refrigerated in a shop is any different to being refrigerated at home.
Yep, I thought noone actually followed those instructions.

As a single person BOGOFFs often make up bug part of my shopping - meat gets frozen, tinned stuff gets stored and stuff like toilet rolls are never going to go off. Yes, BOGOFF on fruit and veg can sometimes be annoying but I often take the extra stuff into work where it vanishes within minutes.

I woudn't like to see BOGOFFs banned as it's too much of the nanny state.
