Map Update Notice for Garmin I3

When I turn my sat nav on (Garmin I3) I get a message telling me "The following map data is more than a year old and should be updated"
it then give me a wesite

I went to the site but I didnt see an obvious option for uk maps !

Do people recommend that I get the maps updated and if so can you point me in the dirrection of the best map update for uk ?

AFAIK there isn't an option to purchase the UK-only maps from Garmin, it'll be Europe or nothing.

TBH the update is not that expensive - AFAIK I paid US$75+VAT for last year's update for my 2610; can't comment on this year's as it isn't out yet for the older sat navs.

Of course the sat nav won't suddenly stop working because the data is out of date either. It's just that you don't get the latest map set which may or may not be important to you. And yes, the maps do change - as an example, the Mews I live in finally made an appearance in the road database in City Navigator 8. Of course it's only been there for about 25 years

Is it best to get the Europe one on the Disc or the other option ?

If you just want to get rid of the upgrade message and don't want to buy a new map there are two options -

Either

1) Back up your favourites using easygps
2) Hard reset your unit (hold down back, wheel & power and answer yes to 'erase all user data' message)
3) Restore your favourites using easygps
4) Enjoy a year without map update nags

or downgrade the firmware to version 2.70

Reset has cleared the message on mine so far.
