When did you apply for your card?
That's the way I signed up for it, and I was a student at the time so definitely didn't need PPI! The problem is, that was about 13 years ago, so not sure they'd go for that!0 -
I had mine about seven years but i think i read somewhere they pay back only six years i think now.I would try and read and see if thats right, but would still try.Send in your claim forms and a recent card statement if you have one and just say on the forms that you were signed with someone in the shops.Thats what i done and they just sorted it and sent the money.Tell them you were a student at the time and didnt need ppi as you werent working(mis sold without you knowing, and you didnt sign up that the girl must have put it on automatically).Hope you get it back because its a lot of money they shouldnt have took.Good luck0

It will def help in other debts after xmas.0 -
Even if they only paid back 6 years it would be better than nothing, the thing I'm worried about is them saying that because the agreement was over 6 years ago they won't entertain it.savingannie wrote: »I had mine about seven years but i think i read somewhere they pay back only six years i think now.I would try and read and see if thats right, but would still try.Send in your claim forms and a recent card statement if you have one and just say on the forms that you were signed with someone in the shops.Thats what i done and they just sorted it and sent the money.Tell them you were a student at the time and didnt need ppi as you werent working(mis sold without you knowing, and you didnt sign up that the girl must have put it on automatically).Hope you get it back because its a lot of money they shouldnt have took.Good luck0 -
I got the impression the six year rule applies to all cards. Does anyone know why that is?0

no i think you def have a case.Just read that someone said they have heard that you can claim back to 1997.Have a go and really hope you can get the whole amount back.0

The 6 year rule is a myth.
They are required to keep statement information for 6 years and then after this time it is usually archived. Thats why people who took out the product more than 6 years ago sometimes have difficulties evidencing that they had it.
In terms of refunding you, they will go back to the start date of the card, but in terms of the calculation the first 6 years of calculations will be fairly accurate and then anything over this will be generalised figures based on the first 6 years. Its the only real way they can do it if the statement information is not available.
In relation to the person who said they were a student, the bank/company will argue that you were eligible as you were working. Your arguement needs to be that it wasnt suitable.0 -
Thanks, Tommo.
It defnitely wasn't right for me, I was a student (and working part time, admittedly) but my husband was in a very well paid job and my income was mostly for the luxuries we had, take aways, weekends away, top sky package etc. Losing my job would not have meant I was unable to pay, I was also eligible for 6 months full sick pay, and even after that, SSP would have exceeded my wages.0
