David Lloyd - unauthorised DD withdrawal
LPT
Hi, not sure if i'm in the right place (this is my first post!)
I have been thinking about joining David Lloyd gyms, they had an offer on so I paid a £60 deposit, to hold the offer as it was running out and said that I would go into the gym to go over the paperwork/contracts & membership options in a few days time. David Lloyd took the £60 from my bank account and then the following day they took £810.00 !!!! I only realised when my card was declined.
They have admitted that it was a mistake on their behalf, I have got them to put it in writing and they have offered to cover any bank charges incurred...however I have asked them to transfer the money back - they have not acknowledged this part of the email, and seem to be evasive about it. You would think that they would have refunded it straight away!
Can anyone direct me to an official/legal template to send to them? They have really annoyed me and I am willing to lose my £60 deposit and not join them. I thought they were expensive in the first place, but this is taking liberties!!!
Many thanks

Have they actually taken the money, or is it a pending charge? If it's a pending charge I can see why they would be evasive about what happening with a refund, as they is nothing they can do until the money is cleared or the charge is dropped back into your bank account.
If they money has actually cleared, I can't see any reason as to why they would not refund it straight away. Maybe escalate it to senior management/ CEO?0 -
If it was a direct debit that's been taken in error, just tell your bank and they'll reverse it.0

Of course, the alternative to being evasive about a pending charge is to give a clear explanation, with timescales and a route to pursue the matter if the timescales are not met.bluangel1239 wrote: »Have they actually taken the money, or is it a pending charge? But being evasive is a hell of a lot easier if you are dealing with customers' money and don't know your brass from your brelbow.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Is it even possible for a DD payment to be 'pending'? As far as i'm aware it's either paid or it isn't.
Ring the bank and they will sort it out - they will also cancel the fees incurred0
