I have a letter, like I am sure many other have asking me to join the Customer led Nework Revolution, letter signed from British Gas as part of a partnership to take part in a survey. Its all to do with having a "smartmeter" and in return you get free M & S vouchers for taking part etc., I understand what the smart meter does but they go on about installing it in the home .................is it big like a gas meter which is installed outside my home or is like a keypad for an alarm for example? Any advice, information would be greatly appreciated.

Smart meters are the about the same size as current meters but they also tend to come with an 'in home display' making it easy for you to see how much energy you are using and how much it is costing. All of it is designed (in the governments view) to make usage more obvious and therefore lead to a reduction in use.

The spoon fed, nanny diapered, swadling clad Government are so far removed from the everyday lives of normal people, that they may as well live on Mars.

Smart meters are not needed to make people save energy, because the existing prices of energy already makes electricity, oil, LPG and gas luxury items, out of reach of most people, and many already think twice before turning on their central heating.

The only saving grace, is that once we are all living in cold, damp infested houses which we can't afford to heat, we also wont be healthy enough to work, so goodbye tax revenue.

its all to do with the low carbon network funds.

if they are doing similar to us ( i havent read the above site), they will just be fitting a device to check the network rather than individual customers.

The networks are basically testing the network to see what effects overall, of exporting of energy back to the grid does.
