I have just oppened a halifax reward account to take advantage of their £100.00 offer
when openeing the account i was told by the member of staff that i must immediately put in £100.00 to make the account active or, as this was the first that i had been told of it i could put the money in the next day
as far as i was aware i only had to switch accounts and fund it with £1000.00 a month to get the £100 and also £5 a month
does anyone else heard of this

They require a £100 credit into current accounts to activate the dispatch of a debit card.0

Well the thing is that i opened a account with them this account 2 months ago and without depositing any money that you say is need, they sent me a debit card. i had to close this account as the correspondce went to the wrong address so i closed it to stop any potential fraud0 -

I opened a Reward account a few months ago - they made a bit of a mess of the application and when I visited a local branch to try to sort things out one of their staff said the same thing, I needed to deposit £100 to "activate the account"... I was a bit doubtful of transferring any money into the account at that point so I didn't bother, I received all the paperwork about a week later anyway.0

It seems that no-one has told the member of staff involved.0 -

I opened an account with them earlier this week and was told I had to depost £100 for the card to be dispatched. I had money to pay in anyway so it wasn't an issue. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Exactly, what is the problem with paying in £100 when you need to put in £1000 within 1 to 31 days anyway?
there was no stipulation made to me that money had to be trasnfered to the account within a set period of time.
also it is clear from the other responses that people have made that the staff are not versed in what the correct information is.0 -
When I opened the account I had to pay in £100 immediately - withdrew it from the cashpoint in the bank and paid it straight in. Wasn't expecting it, though.0

That was the case (the £100 to activate) but the current T&Cs no longer seem to mention it. But it does appear par for the course that Halifax staff are at total odds to the change.
Just how difficult is it to communicate fundamental product change within an organisation. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
