Hi,
I've read a few of the other threads on here about switching to First Direct and it's a bit confusing, some people fund the accounts with their salaries and some just transfer money around from other accounts.
I spoke with someone from First Direct earlier about opening an account and they said it had to be salary and couldnt just be a transfer from another account. What do people think? were they just telling me this to make people pay their salary in or would they actually not pay you the switching reward if you didn't pay your salary in.
Thanks

You are correct that many have received the incentive by just transferring from other accounts. Their terms say:
So it's either salary OR income. So transferring should work.to qualify you need to transfer your banking using our Easyswitch service (transferring at least two Direct Debits and/or standing orders) and salary/income of at least £1,500 per month to your 1st Account within three months of your account opening0
