Hi
Just looking for a bit of advice.
I am looking to upgarde mobile, essentially so I don't get to far behind on tech advances.
I don't know which is the best option for me.
I would use it for calls, email and some internet. Not interested in texts or apps too much.
I have have reasonably poor eyesight so a bit worried about the smaller sized screens
Any advice or tips on what to consider would be greatly appreciated.

For what you are going to do on it, an Android based phone like a Galaxy S II0
-
Definitly go for android phone like a sensation or galaxy s2.0

do you realise what kind of arguments you may have started in this thread.
I have an iPhone 4, and a HTC (dunno which model, it's my work phone) and I prefer the iPhone as to me it's easier to use and less fiddley, however i have had an iPhone for 3 years and a HTC for a few months, so it may just be because im not used to HTC yet.
I think you will get everyone tell you their opinion as being the best option, best thing to do is go into a phone shop, and get them to show you the demo models, play with them, see which ones feel most comfortable for you to use. you wont be unhappy whichever you choose, iPhones Blackberry's and Android phones are all great...0 -

The problem is iPhone is an expensive "toy". Android offers more flexibility for what the OP wants. No point for the OP to get a BlackBerry if the OP does not email/txt often.0 -
all depends on how much you want to spend and how many mins/texts/internet you want as the iphone and samsung galaxy s2 are both premium phones and usualy means £30+ a month on a contract (if you want the phone free) on the other hand some of the android phones can be got a lot cheaper from £10 a month but of course with a reduced amount of mins and texts.
but as someone has already said going in and having a look at the test phones would be the better bet if you are worried about the screen - but in y experience even something with a small screen such as the wildfire s has a good enough screen to make it usable (wife is long sighted and finds hers very good)Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -

Indeed, shop around. Lots of competition out there, so haggle with the networks.0 -

Deffo consider a BlackBerry.
The 9780 is a solid phone, excellent communication device, fantastic for calls, email and some internet.
If you're not stuck on the app shortage it gets even sweeter.
Battery life destroys any Android or iPhone options, as its non touch screen, I get 2-3 days out of mine depending on usage.
Best thing is you can pick one up now at about half the price of an iPhone or Android on a contract with the same number of minutes etc.
Check e2save.com for good deals on contracts.
Do not go for the newer BlackBerries given your requirements, overpriced and with poor battery life, e.g. 9900.
I also think the menu usage and navigation on a Berry is far better than on an android or an iPhone, and you can't beat physical keyboards if emails even a tiny consideration.0 -
Another vote for going and trying out.
I had various Blackberry handhelds for 5 years and was very happy with them until my needs changed and I needed more flexibility. I now have the iPhone 4 which I prefer over the Blackberry. I also have an Android tablet whch is great for what I use it for although I wouldn't want Android on a phone.
My partner has an HTC phone with Windows mobile which she's very happy with. I'm her support line for it and to be frank I find Windows mobile to be cumbersome and unintuitive. I have done since my old pre-Blackberry PDA days though.0 -
