So used car dealers are the only "trade" now?

What is it, "one piece at a time"?

Give what a rest, there's a page of questions off traders about me, and one response from me saying that trade isn't just used car salesmen?

You've been winding them up on more than one thread.

No, I've been quoting various trading standards, SOGA, and consumer direct sites.
I agree the traders haven't liked it, but if you think an MSE website is about not supporting the customer, and not using the correct legislation when required, I don't think we'll agree either.

Check the actual threads, most have ended in a refund for the op in those threads, or a full repair.
Some have gone badly, where the trader has attempted a repair, and dragged it out for weeks, but the op is working with trading standards to sort them as well.

So I'll live with upsetting a few other traders if it happens.

Whether or not I'm in the "trade" myself or not doesn't really matter.
In fact, if I am, maybe I know how it should work.

Really? Moreoften than not, we never hear from the O/P again, and when we do, its usually that they've worked something out with the dealer - which must p iss you off no end.

You dont 'upset' traders on here - you frustrate them.

    No.
    I'm good with that.
If the op knows all their options, they're big enough to settle however they want to.
  • I spoke to office of fair trading and they advised me to go through the usual procedure of sending a letter by recorded delivery etc.
I do understand both sides of the argument, but I believe he shouldn't have sold me the car in such bad condition. He didn't even mention rust and there are some really big holes. I may go to another mechanic to get another quote and it isn't "backstreet", they are well established family run, well known garage.
I did actually take a man with me.
Anyway it's a bad situation and I've learnt my lesson for the future. Sorry that people are so untrustworthy though.
