    Sounds like the drinking is his way of hiding from his issues. Have you suggested he speaks to someone for help with this?
  • Confiscate any and all debit/credit cards, chequebooks, etc., and allot him a weekly/monthly allowance. Sounds drastic, but what a mess.

    I admire your spirit, but I don't think you can do much, really.

    As I suspect you've already worked out, you can't stop somebody else drinking or spending-they have to want to for themselves. You can draw up budgets until you're blue in the face-they see every penny saved as ten spare to spend upon themselves.

    I take it you have your own bank account? Go on holiday with a friend this year.
