Praise for P&O Ferries

Booked their special offer £19 crossing for half term to take the kids to Calais for the day. Unfortunately DS2 broke his wrist last weekend and is in plaster from armpit to fingers!

Emailed them today to cancel and got this reply:

Thank you for your email.

This Day Trip Promotion is actually not refundable, but due to the circumstances, we are happy to make an exception. Please call our Contact Centre with your credit card details in order to receive a £19 refund.

Never expected a refund - I only emailed because someone said that if I just didn't turn up they might charge my card the full cost of the trip!

So well done P&O - will definitely be booking with them in the future.

i agree completly.we booked the £19 deal, and stayed overnite in folkstone last sat. our crossing was booked for 11am departure.but due to the heavy snowfall on the sunday morning,we decided to leave folkestone early, and arrived at dover at about 9am.went into the ticket office, and they said no problem.we boarded the ferry 20mins later.had a lovely crossing, picked up our free six bottles of wine, found the prices on board for food and drink very reasonable, and the staff very pleasent.will be booking my summer crossing in the near future

We've amended one non changeable promotional fare and cancelled another due to various circumstances - one by phone and one at the travel centre at Dover. On both occasions they have been most helpful and accommodating. I suppose there is/was a lot of competition on the Dover Calais route so it's in their interests to keep the customer happy. I'd certainly travel with them again.

Now to try and change a travelodge booking is another matter...
