Very Old PPI - but have all paperwork?

Just going through some old documents and I found one of my husbands old loans from Barlcays.

It was taken at the end of 1997, for £4,500, with a PPI of £846.72 in total.

It's the actual signed paperwork from the advisor at the bank I have. It has a little blue triangle up in the top, a'la Barclays style with the words "With Barclayloan Protection" written on it, and the "with" is underlined. I know my husband had 1, possibly 2 loans after this too, but I can't seem to find the paperwork for those.

He was apparently told it was part of the loan and couldn't have the loan without this extra. He was also self employed at the time the loan was taken out.

Can he claim it? Are Barclays likely to settle such an old PPI?

Many thanks in advance for any advice!

  • i too are claiming on a 1998 loan with orig docs i as well was self employed and was told couldnt have loan without it..the best way to deal with it is to expect nothing..if unhappy with barclays use fos..i got 9000 back on my 2004 barclaycard 3 weeks ago..took just nov-jan..and 1 letter..martins template

keep the faith and keep posting
in short..claim giving reasons youve stated nothing venturred nothing gained
  • From more reading, this seems to be a front loaded PPI... added to the loan amount, with interest on the PPI added, and then one monthly payment for the loan + ppi. Does this make a difference?
