Broken door handle/window
I have a R reg Hyundai Accent and stupidly tried to open the driver's window when it was frozen.
There was a noise and the handle just carried on turning around but the window stayed put. A couple of days on and whilst driving, the window dropped and I have now had to wedge it closed for the time being.
Can anyone give me a rough idea as to what I might have done and how much it will cost to repair?
Thanks.

You've either broken a wheel or pulley on the window mechanism or stripped the teeth off the gear in it. Its no more than an hour labour and you can get the part from a scrapyard. The bit you want is called a window regulator.0

Thanks very much.0

I had a very similar problem with the same car, mine was on an 'S' though. You'll need a new window regulator, which isn't cheap new (about £80) or get one from a scrappy.
It was the passenger door that went on mine - not because of being frozen but the lock mechanism got jammed as well, turned out it was full of rust. I never bothered fixing the window winder - I wasn't going to pay to fix something I never used myself!0 -
Or the glass has just come unclipped, depends on the car though.
Worth taking the door skin/panel off and having a play, be sure to purchase new clips though as they nearly always break on removal.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

There are repair kits on ebay, about £20, plus fitting if you need a garage to do it. Maybe an hours labour.
Cable broken, or end come off probably.
Something like

but you need the one for your year.0 -

Interesting. I never knew you could get these -- I've bought complete salvage replacements in the past, which are both less reliable and potentially more expensive.
That said, I think the OP mentioned a keep-fit window mechanism didn't they?0 -

Indeed, missed that

same sort of price as well, but again check it's the right model and year.0 -
Not sure if there's a difference but make sure its for the right shape of your car - coupe/hatch/3dr/5dr.0

Got a friend to take door panel off and I have broken the cable etc so he has recommended I get a new regulator.
Managed to get one for £30 off Ebay and luckily same friend will fix it for me.
Thanks to you all for your help and advice.0 -
