HI,
I wonder if any one can help me! though i think its a lost cause, but here goes.
I parked my car up last night on my street. When i got up this morning and went to get in my car i noticed someone has ran into my drivers door.
It needs a full respray and dints taking out costing nearly £300.
Will i have to dig into my owns pocket for this or is there any way of claiming for the expense??
Thank you

Are you third party or fully comp insurance ? If fully comp you may be able to claim on your insurance...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Thanks for your reply.
Im fully comp and got 2 years no claims. Im assuming i would loose them if i were to claim.

You normally have to pay the first £50/£100/£150 (excess) depending on your policy and premium. I'm betting at repairs costs of £300 it's not worth claiming as you'll lose out.
Hope this helps.Regards,
Dave

Unless you are with one of the few insurers that do not count these as fault claims (Direct Line is the only one that springs to mind) then it is a fault claim so loss of NCD, increased premiums and having to pay the excess. (excess I believe is still payable for DL but the other 2 dont apply)All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

I had a similar incident while being insured with direct line. Direct line treat it as a fault claim unless the accident was caused by a non insured driver - to prove this you need the details of the other vehicle involved. After many calls to direct line I spoke to someone who advised me that the claim would increase my premiums for the following 2 years.
Therefore I had no choice to pay for the repair myself. It really annoyed me that I had to pay for someone elses incompetent driving and lack of owning up to their actions.0 -

A full respray fo £300... What are they using , gloss and a roller:D0 -
Just what I was thinking! I would bite the hand off someone willing to do a full respray for that!:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0

sometimes if you contact your insurer just to enquire - they count it anyway and it can still affect you.
i would IMHO perhaps pay for it - it may cost less than £300? (i did my own door in - don't ask, dinosaur claw gouges and paid £230/40 for a fab job).0 -
Same situation as me a couple of years ago....I came down one saturday morning to find the only part of my car still intact was the front 1/4 - the rest had been petrol bombed.
The car was obviously a write-off and although I knew who was behind the damage I couldn;t prove it (although it was damn obvious) and I lost 2 years no claims and my insurance went from £600 a year to £960 a year.
That's just life :-(0
