Help re Digital Camera

Really sorry if I have posted on the wrong board , feel free to place in right forum if necessary.

I have bought a digital camera whilst on holiday. It is a Penta 12 mx (spanish make apparently), all singing all dancing etc etc. However when I try to take photos at night time or indoors the screen is very very dark .I have fiddled with the settings and nothing makes it better. It does not have a view finder so consequently all my photos look as if I have been hitting the sangria !!!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Does it have an LCD screen on the back? If so, does the picture look OK on it? Does the picture only look dark after you've downloaded to your PC?
Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!
