they are robbing gits !

just checked my business gas bill.

We only use gas for heating, thats it.

may to september my gas usage is ZERO.

I find out today when i called them they changed my rolling tarrif to a lower usage charge BUT 50.5 pence per day standing charge :mad::mad:

This means throughout the summer months they will get £15.00 a month from us even though we use no gas, so much for SMALL business help, it only actually helps large businesses using massive amounts of gas.
They say we sent a one letter. yeah right, :T
I cannot beleive they are trying to charge for something that IS NOT USED and dressing it up as something else etc etc etc

I am absolutely fuming ! ALL small businesses that only use gas for heating should check there bill NOW, British Gas are so underhanded and dishonest in my view for this.

Typical of today and the way customers are just treated as cashcows

You dont see on the adverts switch on to british gas and let us bill you for thin air :j

rant over
sorry

NSC or SC tariffs make little difference in the end unless you are a low user. A lower unit rate means a higher standing charge, and vice versa.
Your SC pays for the maintenance and upgrading of the network, whether you use it or not.
Why is it BG's fault if you accepted a tariff without checking the basic terms?

first, i never accepted the tariff knowingly, i was on a rolling tarrif, second, i have never had a standing charge in 10 years, and as a low user WHY should i suddenly be penalised - 10 years loyalty to boot !Then some little brain box tries to work out a way of dressing up something underhanded to rinse more money from a loyal customer.:T:T
SO typical of todays utlities and then they wonder why nobody likes them !!!!!!.
As for maintainence/upgrading - yeah right, whatever you say, its just to make the charge look valid !

Then if you've been switched without your agreement, you need to go through the formal complaints procedure with BG. But if you look at the rates, you will be paying a higher unit charge on an NSC tariff to make up for the lack of standing charge.
Over the year, it makes no difference for most people.

    fair comment BUT

it does make a difference to us and BG admit this.
Also, they have taken the way OUR choice to be able to pay for what and when and how we use OUR heating.
I may want to sit in my office all winter with a parka jacket on, deep heat all over me and freezing my danglies off but payi ng less for the gas I USE.
In the same instance I do not want to pay for gas charges in summer and certainly NOT paying for something that is not used.

Either way It would be MY choice. They have taken away the fact I could choose how much i did / didnt use my heating and done it in the one way that it could only ever benefit themselves. I am not bitter of course so cheers bg you !!!!!! Turpins

So how much difference does it make over the full year to your annual bill?
As I said, if you have transferred against your will, you have a remedy for that.

Just because you choose to use no gas 3, 4, 5, 6 months of the year the supplier still have to pay the meter rental and maintenance charges. Hence this needs to be covered to ensure it does not disadvantage other customers.

It seems to me that your problems start nearer home.

  • Hi
We are having same problem only use little gas.So would like to stop using but can't just have gas disconcerted and stop using.
Have to pay £150 to have meter taken out .Seems they win what ever .
Has taken me load of phone calls and a week to sort out.
Today (sat)got a call to say did I undersand it would cost £150 (yes) but I would have to pay upfront and must sign forms to compleat .
When all this is done will be 4 weeks I must first ensure outlet pipe work is disconnected and purged for work to commence .Dont even know what this is but lookes like I have to pay twice for something else
All I want is to stop using gas.
Have electricity with them also but they can't link accounts spending £800 per month.( won't be staying when contract ends)
