Early Exit Scheme but on sick leave?

I am a Civil Servant who is due to leave my organisation at the end of March 2012 on an Early Exit package but have been signed off sick since December with stress due to work? I cannot get out of leaving , and to be honest I don't want to stay, but I am worried that when I leave I will have to use my compensation money to pay my bills, as I will be unfit to work. I just wondered if anyone knew if there was any way the Early Exit award could be delayed for a few months? Any suggestions would be welcomed ?

Thats what compensation is for to replace income.
If off work and know you don't have to go back to the work that caused the illness you should have started recovering.0 -
There shouldn't be a need to delay the exit date, and the scheme has probably fixed date anyway
Most VERS offer about 21 months money, consider this to be 21 months when you don't have to worry about new earnings as you have this as a buffer, and look for employment when you are better before the 21months runs out.
Try to get your health improved in that time.
When you look for work you will be able to give the reason for leaving last employment as "voluntary severance", and your employer will confirm that. You will need to line up a friendly referee so you have a good reference from your Civil Service days, Agency work ma be a good option to strat with so you can build up confidence in a variety of situations
You may also be entitled to claim JSA
Best of luckYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
It's highly unlikely that there will be capacity for a delay - the money is budgeted from particular financial years and isn't generally able to be carried forward.0
