British Gas Lock-In Fee ?

Hi guys (forum noob, so apologies)
I'm currently with British Gas Dual fuel (both Standard Tariffs) and have been since July/August 2011. I'm looking into switching providers in order to find a better deal (and cashback) but have been reading about lock-in fee's/ leaving fee's when switching.
Just wondered if anyone knew British Gas's policy on this, we started the account as previous tenants were with BG and have never signed a contract in writing . . . any help would be great.
(prospective providers are SSE and Npower, so experiences would be great too)
Thanks !

If you are a 'standard tariff' there will be no fees, fees normally applied when you are on a tariff like 'Fixed Tariff 1 until 2013' where you sign up until the end of that tariff. Even moving from BGs standard tariff to a DD online managed account will save you money.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

You don't ever sign a contract in writing with utility suppliers. You are in a deemed contract with the existing suppliers from day one when you start using the services.
Get off Standard, it's the most expensive tariff. But no lock in.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
