Can you help please

My Husband left me xmas eve after disclosing he was sleeping with 2 other women, and then assaulting me.
We bought our first house Oct 2011. He now refusing to pay anything towards mortgage etc as he states that I gave him a criminal record, even though he assaulted me.
I am trying to pay the mortgage, but am leaving myself with no money for food etc.
Come March 1st I can only pay mortgage, council tax, gas, electric water if I use credit cards to withdraw money, this is without food and fuel to get me to work
I also have a car loan which if I dont pay they repossess and as I work in the community, no car,no job
Have got estate agent coming to put house on market tomorrow, I have to lie to them as they asked as he given permission to sell and I said yes, but if it doesnt sell for what we paid I am ruined, as he will not pay shortfall etc
he did not pay anything towards deposit and has emailed tonight when I begged for help as I need his permission to sell or have Shelter to discuss as a third party to tell me "hand keys back to Santander".
Have contacted Santander to ask for interest only payments to give me chance to sell, but they refused, as not had mortgage 6 months, please can anyone offer advice.
I am so desperate that I rang Samaritans as I cant see how I can get through February never mind March, please please help. I really cant take much more- he has a good job and all I want is his agreement to sell etc, I know I will never get money from him as I have discovered he owes £37,000+, plus he did the same to his first wife, he just walked away after cheating on her and started a new life
Which his what he is doing to me, But I cant afford to take it on... Please can someone offer advice as to what I can do....

I would suggest you get professional advice, eg here ...

  • you can't just hand the keys back ! you will both be liable for the mortgage. It sounds a horrible situation to be in but just take one step at a time and you will get through it. Get proper advice and you will be able to solve this, not overnight but there will be an end to it. You don't want to lose the car if your job depends on it. I'm so sorry you are going through this but just keep positive and one day you will be able to put it behind you.

thank you, I have just looked at that site, but when it comes to the mortgage can they discuss it as they are a third party
  • Yes, they can. They can deal directly with all your creditors. If your husband refuses to make any contribution towards the mortgage-payments it's only a matter of time before you are in arrears. Before any thing bad happens I would suggest that you find yourself a lodger. There must be plenty of people looking to rent a room and you could get £300 a month rent or more. Plus you can get them to pay month's rent in advance plus a month's rent as deposit. That would sort some short-term issues and give you some breathing-space.
