Will be interesting whether your higher pension contributions turn out to have caused you to buy more at lower prices or not.
Yes, and particularly so in the case of my lump sum in early December. Also interesting to know why you did it. My intent at the time of my decision was the one I described: buy at low prices knowing they may well get significantly lower.
It was partly to dodge a nasty tax band, but I also steered the fresh money into global equities rather than any of the balanced managed funds that were available.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Glad that it has worked out for you. Nice timing in December. My leveraged 2x FTSE tracker ETF has been doing quite well recently, same for the Vanguard global tracker fund. And just about everything else that's managed of course. Hopefully Greece and the rest won't spoil the party.0

I'm sure we have a lively few years ahead of us, so I'm just going to keep diversified and continue to pump in as much as I can afford.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

That actually sounds pretty good. You've invested £300 and it has gone up by £100. That is 33% increase in 6 months.
Maybe I've misunderstood but by most reckoning that is impressive performance?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
