Oh my goodness, I never knew I would be rewarded with so many actual belly laughs when I started this thread yesterday, to try to get assurance that I wasn't the only one who now found herself with an aging & extremely vocal & bossy cat!

Anybody who thinks cats are boring has only to read some of the posts here & if you are in need of cheering up & want some fun in your life, well, get yourself a middle aged cat! There will never be a dull moment, that's for sure, as the replies here prove!
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Absolutely hilarous bacardi, I'd better hide the baseball bat then!

I can't wait to finish work and get home now to cuddle my boys :D
Ollie will be disgusted that i want to pick him up and cuddle him of course but i don't care and Charlie will just love it and cuddle me right back whilst having a good natter about his day ..... but then i will be expected to play chase and seek round the house with them both for twenty minutes but its a worthwile trade :T

Am I the only one who has a cat who snores loudly as well as being vocal? Gets so bad you can't hear the telly for her and have to go wake her up. Nightmare!

Yes, I think they do and I think I know why - deafness. My mum's cat went totally deaf in her final years and went from being a little squeaker to letting rip with these long wailing howls just as the OP has described. My own cat was always chatty and above averagely loud and guess what, I'm getting the howling treatment now and yes, she is profoundly deaf too. She is at least 16 now, mum's was at least 17 and the OP's is 16. See the common denominator?

YES! Bert is a snorer too. Sometimes we have to turn the telly up so loud to drown him out - and he's on the other side of the room!

Good job we live in a detached bungalow or we'd drive the neighbours nuts!!!! :rotfl:

  • My old boy makes a hooting sound when he snores.

It's all quiet (as he's asleep and has finally stopped chatting to you), then, just as you are drifting off, you hear a gentle

    hoooooo-ooooooooooo

    a-oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    a-hoooooooooo-ooooooooooooooo-oooooooooo

    'Shhh!' [laughing]

    brrrrrrrrppppp? Maowwww. Waaaaaa. Grrrmmmmmmphhhhh. Oooooof.

    [quiet again]

    a-hoooooooooooooooo-ooooooooooooooooooooooo-oooooooooooooo
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
