hey all
little did i know but i have been paying £79 a month for a single bt landline and have been for the last 5 years
(the wife who does the household bills had no idea this was alot )
after finding this out i phoned them and they said we where on the wrong tarrif (unlimited weekend plan) when we make most of our calls during the week and we should have been told this .
also, there was 118118 calls over the last 14 months of on average £25-£30 per quarter for 8-10 calls, we didnt even know we called them this many times and still cant see that we did. There was also a premium number of 2 calls for £11.98 to 09061 563015 too which neither of us have any recollection and bt says all it shows is a foreign company and the word vorwahl.
Only NOW do they try to help, and offered unlimited anytime calls and line rental for £19.50 a month (so apparently we only wil be charged premium or 118 numbers)
OR
£30.00 per month all the above plus broadband (we pay talk talk £15 pm at the mo)
Both the above tie me in 12 months.
Before i go head long into agreeing all this, I just wondered what your advice would be.
I have sky too, but only costs £17 pm :-), i am dreading going into my e-on and british gas bills
any advice muchly appreciated guys and gals.
cheers

Welcome to the Forum.
I would say first of all establish if anyone else is using the phone (kids, a cleaner etc) - those 118118 and 0900 calls sound v. suspicious. You'll pay for those kind of calls whatever provider you choose.
There are cheaper packages than BT - look on the MSE main site under Home Phones. If you're intending to keep subscribing to Sky anyway, look at their all-in package.A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove you don't need it.0 -
when we make most of our calls during the week and we should have been told this .
That is not the way it works, with nearly all companies it is up to you the customer to check which plan you are on, BT cannot check every customer in the UK is on the correct tariff and anyway how are they to know which one you want to be on.0 -
Just to give you an idea of what home phone & broadband can cost if you want to stay with BT (I've just phoned them to re-negotiate my own deal):
Line rental if paid in advance for 1 year = 120.00, so that's 10.00 per month
Broadband + unlimited evening and weekend calls (7.00pm - 7.00am) = 8.25 per month
If you want to have anytime calls as well, it's an additional 4.90, so broadband + anytime calls would be 13.15 per month.
You won't see these prices on the BT website (prices displayed there are for new customers). If you are already a BT customer you need to phone 0800 800 150 and ask to speak to the Retentions dept. - they don't want to lose existing customers, so will offer you the above deal.
Lastly, as bobthedambuilder says above, you'll pay dear for 118118 calls whoever you're with.0 -

It seems to me that your problems start nearer home.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
You haven't been 'ripped off by BT'. You've ripped yourself off by failing to check your bills or pattern of usage, and then select the most suitable tariff for that usage. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I guess we should now expect a new thread from the OP anytime soon, ranting about EOn.
So the OP is either a spammer / troller, or someone with a really poor grip on their finances and reality in general. Whatever, I'm out and he/she's on my ignore list.A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove you don't need it.0
