I complain (when I have to) and have won concessions on the back of it. Ask for a discount by all means but if you threaten to cancel you have to be prepared to carry through with it - what about the £500? Are they within their rights (see fine print of order....) to retain your deposit (or some of it)? What does it say about delivery and your right to cancel?
On the face of it, it seems odd that an order placed so long ago is now subject to such significant delay. Might need to look into it a tad more and perhaps post on the Consumer Rights board?
