removing all internal render + regs ?

Hi, i am renovating an old victorian house, solid wall, internal render was in bad condition so i removed it all from external walls with the thought in mind of replacing with 27mm thermaline plus insulation board on external walls and plaster board everywhere else ( all dot and dabbbed ). But have been hearing that if you remove all render you must upgrade insulation to building regs
Can anyone else confirm this, getting really worried about losing too much room internally, is there any leaniancy etc. building inspector is involved with other aspects of my renovation so he will be coming to site .
any advice please and thanks

afaik theres no such rule regarding internal render, for a normal house.
ie not listed.Get some gorm.0 -
Your saying above 'external render'....Ormus as always is 100% correct, but if your talking external render, thats a different story. I do know if you change the external appearance of your house (with my planning office anyway), you have to get ful blown planning permission and there is something about getting insulation up to certain spec. Sorry, cant remember full details, but your local planning office will confirm for you.
I have a cold solid wall pebbledashed house & wanted to change external appearance - too involved - insulating & planning, etc, etc0 -

No, what hes saying is internal render on external walls (eg take a detached square house and look at it from above the "internal render of the external walls would be the four walls that form the square not the internal/internal walls so to speak) hope this makes senceconfusing iI know, anyway doesnt matter you can go ahead with what you want to do no problem unless it is listed as Ormus says.

Hi all, thanks for replies , just to confirm I did mean the interior render on the external wall ( in the house) , the rest are either stud walls or the internal central wall which has the chimney in, I feel a bit better now . But I m sure I read it on an official Eco site I will post a link when I get my laptop up and running tomorrow , on my phone at moment, really hope I've got it wrong so I can get my building regs guy round to check some other work ,you go in the cage ! cage goes in the water ! sharks in the water ! our shark :eek:0

Bet you got mixed up - like I did. If you change the external appearance of your house, you got to update the insulation - I think..:rotfl:0

As you are dry lineing You do need to insulate, this is not a bad thing.
It's all on page 17 of part L1B of building regs http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/br/BR_PDF_ADL1B_2010.pdf
There are a couple of get out clauses.0 -
yep, my reading of section five is that if you remove more than 50% of the plaster on an external wall then that wall must be upgraded to current standards of insulation.0
