avast!antivirus problems

in Techie Stuff
have done a hijack thread and installed avast yesterday.i put my cursor over the avast logo on the bar on the bottom of the computer and i am told that aa has been stopped or is in an inconsistent state. please restart the program.
well i have clicked the restart the program button and the fix now button and nothing happened.
i uninstalled and reinstalled and the same thing is there.
on registering i had a box come up with 'the aavm subsystem detected a rc error' and so i presume i am not registered.
what should i do.??

Uninstall it using the Avast uninstall utility, then reinstall.

If you continue to have problems I'd go back to Avira (Personally I'd would've stuck with Avira anyway)0
