Alternator testing
Lidl are doing an LED tester, £2.99 from tomorrow.
Ideal after all the flat battery and cold starting threads recently, for anyone that wants to check their car's charging ok.

It's hiddden away in the plug spanner flyer.

Battery charging light on dash?

Doesn't always appear - I'm guessing the above just ensures that the battery terminals have more than 12v running through, indicating that the system is charging and the alternator is ok.0

^^ I would think it has several LED's, to check the alternator is "ok" it'd need to check for around 14.5v“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Just had a look at one, about 6 leds, 3 for the charging voltage, and 3 for checking the state of the battery off charge.
Seems good for the money.0 -
I could make one, very simple..... But with Farnell/RS prices it'd cost a lot more than £2.99
