Lloyds and PPI

Hi

Just starting out on my journey after reading this site for years and successfully claiming back Bank Charges.

Anyway

Closed Loan-2004 (Refinanced with them with new loan)

Found out that I had front loaded PPI that I wasn't aware of and certainly didn't need due to working for same firm for 20 years and get 12 months full pay and 12 months half pay as benefits, one of many.

Claim sent 19 Dec 2011
Acknowledgement 23rd Jan 2012(giving 8 weeks to respond)

Though I would be cheeky today and called them, only queued for 5 mins and said not received acknowledgement off them, guy on the phone was very nice, I asked where they where up to and said I would here within the 8 weeks.

He did make me laugh though, I asked could he see any notes and he said "oh I can see it is being worked on and have received your evidence?(i haven't sent any)and there are calculations on there, I asked what they where and he said he didn't know.

Anyone get the feeling that they just want you off the phone? lol.

Oh well shall wait until 19th March, better not hold my breath though as I will be six foot under by then

  • Still waiting for final response from Lloyds.

I am in the process of filling out the forms for a friend who had a failed IVA(their card debts where wiped off and then sent to debt collectors after the failed IVA).

Could do with a bit of help on these.

They are all credit cards that had PPI on and range from 2001-2007, all now closed as where in IVA then when that failed went on to third party debt collectors, she has not acknowledged the debts to these collectors and the IVA failed in 2007.

    So

A)I assume I still send the claim forms to the card companies, MBNA, BARCLAYS,EGG,CITI, SANTANDER.

B)If successful would the money still go off the debt even though was written off?

C)Should they pay the interest to her directly if that is the case

D)Are they allowed to pay any redress to these debt collectors(she has not acknowledged the debts)

E)With the Citi Card, where would I send it to as I believe they have sold that side of the business.

I realise that these claims will be painful for me but I am up to the challenge for my friend.

Any help on these would be fantastic.

    Yes

If this debt was sold on,then the redress has to go to your friend,if it was written off,how did it get to the debt collector?also the banks may want some money back even with a written off debt.

Yes they can as the debts still exist.

    it is Opus

Does not bode too well does it?.
Fair play to you for taking these on!,by going mis sell the debts are then acknowledged,so if i were your friend i would seriously consider about taking this further.
If redress was won and this went to the debts, any remaining debt would have to be paid back.
  • Hi everybody,
In 2004 we successfully completed an IVA
Llloyds bank were one of the creditors, and we had two loans with them totalling 25000 there was definitely ppi on both of these loans that was we believe was mis-sold, as it was added without being asked for and we both had jobs that would pay full sick pay to a maximum of 12 months. Obviously at the time we took out these loans we were struggling financially and now recognise that the bank employee used our desperation to load our loans with unnecessary ppi.
We have written to Lloyds and await a reply, unfortunately we do not have any account numbers as we changed banks in the 1997, at the beginning of the iVA.
Does anyone else have/had a similar issue and are we likely to be successfully. Thanks

    Hi

I have an account with Lloyds going back to 1996.To get the information needed I have sent them a SAR request at a cost of £10 You can find templates on this site. I spoke to a lady at Lloyds and she told me she had emailed central records for the information as it is more than 6 years old.If my bank manager at the time sent the information to central records then I will get the documentation I need. You dont need the account numbers just an address where you lived at the time. Your old branch should still have the account numbers ,you could try going in and asking. I await the results of my own SAR in the next three weeks.I know people on this site have got the info needed from the 1990's so its worth a try.
