my new car broke, dealer wont help, advice please

hi all

hubby bought a second hand car just under 3 months ago, head gaskit has broke.

now on the invoice the invoice dealer has wrote 3 month engine warrantey but excludes head gaskit and some other bits.

cut a long story short

he has said there is nothing he can do as his insurance wont fix it.

so i have wrote him a letter and sent it recorded delivery as well as one to my credit card company stating the sales act 1979 to him and the 1975 to credit card people.

am awaiting response, does anyone know what i can do if he comes back to me still sying he cannot fix it or refund?

thankyou for reading

head gasket is a consumable like service items spark plugs, filters, oil and brakes.

Unless your garage can find a cause of the head gasket failure that is warranted by your warranty (I think)

How do you know the headgasket is brokened?

Has it had a pressure/sniffer test done?

You need to find out why the headgasket has gone, thermostat stuck shut, driving with no coolant, overheated, leaking radiator/coolant pipes, is it a MGF?

How many miles has the car done, what is the car?

MGF = MG MGF - 2 seater open top car, headgaskets have gone within 20,000 miles as rubbish design

Replacing the HG is an expensive job, engine & rads out, if you get no joy with the trader you bought it from consider another car and sell it as a spares or repairs.

My brother had an espace a couple of years ago that the HG went and the garage he had the repairs done had to drop the engine as it a mare to do it insitu.

Pretty sure it would take more than 4 hours tho, had the waterpump and cambelt done at the same time tho.
