90 day british gas cancellation period

we have to give b gas 90 days notice to cancel our agreement with them but how can we secure a new deal now to start in 90 days time or should we wait and chance our luck when the 90 days is almost up?

The average time it takes for a Switch to take place from start to finish, is 6 weeks - 42 days - and the 90 days is counted from the day the Switch is made, not the day the switch process started

However, there is nothing to stop you giving BG notice in writing of your intention to Switch today, then starting the actual Switch process with the new supplier 7 weeks later.

Have a look at BG's contract to see just what the £'s penalty is for switching prior to 90 days.
As it's high winter bills time, the savings you could make on the new suppliers tariff may be worth paying the early switch penalty

What tariff is this? Is it a business tariff? Consumer tariffs are normally either 'open' (i.e. Standard tariffs)-no lock in period, or a fixed length, i.e. 12 months. Subject to that, I've never heard of one requiring 90 days notice?
You cannot specify a specific start date when you switch.
