Advice please - Warranty and repairs

Hi
I would appreciate some advice please.
I recently purchased an almost brand new Mini Countryman from a Mini Dealership. Its currently under their warranty. Someone has driven into it whilst it was in a carpark, presumably whilst they were parked next to it and trying to get out of their space. We had only had it for three weeks!
The results are a scratched handle on one door, scratched paintwork and a scratched bumper. There is a barely noticeable (to my eyes anyway) dent near the handle as well.
I took it back to a Mini/BMW dealershop and they have quoted almost £900 to get the work done. This seems astronomical.
We dont really want to claim it on insurance as we dont want to affect our premium. My husband also wants the car back to brand new condition (and it was possibly a little bit my fault that the whole thing came to pass). Was wondering if anyone could advise if:
1) it would be worth getting another quote from another Mini dealership to see if I can get better one
2) whether its worth going elsewhere altogether
3) whether if we did go elsewhere this would affect the warranty
4) How I can go about querying the work that needs to be done - the dent is barely visible to my eyes, but they are saying the door is stressed around the handle and needs replacing
I can't help wondering that since I rocked up by myself (youngish woman) I may be being ripped off.
Any other advice that anyone can provide on the situation would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance

of course get another quote
most likely this car will go to a bodyshop somewhere else anyway
thing is if door skin is stretched they wont want to fill and paint here because as they say its stressed and the filler could crack next week next month next year0 -
thats why they are called stealers. take it to an independent, when you go for a quote have a look at the cars they working on and finished.0

Thanks SB and Redeye
If i do look elsewhere though will this invalidate the warranty do you know?0 -
will invalidate the warranty if they say bought a new handle that werent bought from mini dealership.
if theres an anti fade warranty this may be affected to that repaor site.0 -
Not if it was a genuine OEM part it wouldn't.atrixblue.-MFR-. wrote: »will invalidate the warranty if they say bought a new handle that werent bought from mini dealership.0 -
Short answer is no, if you use genuine BMW parts for that model and follow standard manufacturer guidelines.jellylegsG wrote: »Thanks SB and Redeye

OP, how was it a "little bit your fault", did you park too close or something?0 -
They will exclude the repair from any paint or anti perforation warranty though.0
